About The Buntingford JournalThe Buntingford Journal was launched by the Buntingford Civic Society in January 1976 following the closure of a church-based magazine called 'Contact'. To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Buntingford Journal the Buntingford Local History Group compiled a more comprehensive history which was published in the February 2026 issue of the Journal. The article can be read here. The Buntingford Journal is published ten times per year on a monthly basis with a double issue for August/September and December/January. Members of the Buntingford Civic Society receive a copy of the Journal as part of their membership subscription. The remaining copies are sold via local retailers in Buntingford with the current outlets being the Co-Op, Budgens (the Post Office), Mark Doel and Lock Stocks & More. The Buntingford Journal is published by, but is editorially independent of, the Buntingford Civic Society. If you would like to join the Civic Society, an application form for local residents is available in PDF format here, and in Microsoft Word format here. If you are a UK tax payer, please consider completing the Gift Aid declaration on the application form. The current membership rate is £10 per household for Buntingford residents. As well as helping to further the aims of the Society, all members receive a hand delivered copy of the Buntingford Journal and an exclusive quarterly newsletter. For postal membership information, please contact the Membership Secretary.
